Role at TSSM:
Jitske has been part of TSSM’s Arts and Technology team since 2025. She is an extremely passionate teacher who enjoys seeing her students achieve their learning outcomes while scoring impressive study scores.
Jitske has taught senior Visual Communication Design since 2017, giving her extensive experience in the subject. Prior to commencing teaching, Jitske’s previous career as a product developer and textile designer has given her specific fundamentals that she utilises to engage the students with the concepts of the subject in a simplified form, being able to aid with their understanding come exam time.
Jitske is a motivated teacher who makes use of available resources to enhance and improve her teaching abilities so her students can continue to excel.
Jitske has a unique background as she has run her own business in fashion and design. This practical real world experience demonstrates Jitske’s great expertise when it comes to all aspects of art and design, which she passes on to her VCE students.
Jitske also plays an important role in producing high quality VCE resources used by many teachers and students in Product Design & Technologies, Art Making & Exhibiting and Visual Communication Design for TSSM.
Teaching Philosophy:
Jitske has a keen interest in the benefits of individualised learning and feels that it is important to ensure that each student’s learning needs are identified and plans her lessons accordingly to achieve the best possible learning outcomes.
She believes in the importance of implementing differentiated learning techniques to ensure that every student achieves to the best of their ability.
She is committed to pastoral care practices and believes in creating a safe learning environment where her students feel free to contribute openly and their opinions are valued and respected.
She believes in an inclusive classroom where all students are encouraged to respect each other’s backgrounds and differences.
Jitske has a passion for encouraging her students to learn and grow into happy, inquisitive individuals who have a positive outlook on the world and believes in a world free of judgment of others.
